In 1962 it reached Bratislava, and in 1965 it was extended to Z\u00e1lu\u017e\u00ed u Mostu.<\/p>\n<p>Up until 1989, this was the only crude oil pipeline used to transport up to 18 million tons of crude oil per year to Czechoslovakia from the former Soviet Union.<\/p>\n<p>In the Czech Republic, the Druzhba crude oil pipeline is connected directly to its Slovak part and then continues through Ukraine, and Belarus to Russia, where it begins on the east bank of the Volga River. With a total length of over 5,000 km, it is the longest crude oil pipeline in the world.
