MERO ČR’s CEO in Interview ČT24: Thanks to the implementation of the TAL-PLUS project, the Czech Republic will be completely independent from Russian oil from 2025

Prague, 15 August 2023 – Jaroslav Pantůček, Chairman of the Board of Directors of MERO ČR, confirmed in an interview for the Interview ČT24 that the Czech Republic will be completely independent from Russian oil from 2025, thanks to the expansion of the capacity of the Transalpine Oil Pipeline. Currently, the selection of key technological components – pumps, motors, flow meters and high-frequency converters to be installed in the individual parts of the TAL pipeline has been completed. Design preparation for the complete pipeline modifications and construction activities has commenced. Work on the TAL-PLUS project is progressing according to the established schedule.

The conversation also covered the topics of MERO ČR’s ownership entry into TAL in 2012, the difficulty of negotiations to obtain the consent of other TAL co-owners to implement the TAL-PLUS project, the possibility of future use of the Druzhba pipeline and negotiations with ORLEN Unipetrol on concluding a new contract for crude oil transportation.
