MERO CR statement on the current state of crude oil supply in the Czech Republic

Supply of crude oil via the Druzhba pipeline to the Czech Republic has been resumed.

MERO ČR replaced the control system of the IKL crude oil pipeline after 16 years. It will ensure the most state-of-the-art control elements and strengthen the security of crude oil transportation to the Czech Republic.

Kralupy nad Vltavou, 11 April 2024 – MERO ČR continues to strengthen the security of crude oil transportation to the Czech Republic. In cooperation with its subsidiary MERO Germany GmbH, MERO ČR has completed the largest modernization of the IKL crude oil pipeline in its history. After sixteen years, the control system for the transportation and storage of crude oil was completely replaced. The existing control system has been operating since 2008, but some of its elements even date back to 1995. The new SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) control system began operating in March of this year.

The Czech Republic is preparing to become independent of Russian crude oil. MERO ČR is continuing the TAL-PLUS project, which will ensure 100% supply of the Czech Republic via the western route of the IKL and TAL crude oil pipelines.

Kralupy nad Vltavou, 11 April 2024 – MERO ČR is preparing the Czech Republic to become independent of Russian crude oil from the Druzhba crude oil pipeline. MERO ČR continues to prepare the TAL-PLUS project and other activities that will ensure the independence of the Czech Republic from Russian crude oil at the end of 2024, and in the first half of 2025 there will be a full supply of crude oil via the western route from the Italian port of Trieste, i.e., the TAL and IKL crude oil pipelines.

The Czech Republic will become independent of Russian oil at the end of 2024. MERO ČR is continuing the TAL-PLUS project, the first technical modifications of the TAL crude oil pipeline will begin next spring.

At the end of next year, after almost sixty years, the Czech Republic will be independent of Russian oil supplies from the Druzhba pipeline. MERO ČR, together with the TAL consortium, continues the successful implementation of the TAL-PLUS project. All works are progressing according to the set schedule. The first technical modifications and modernisation works will start on the European TAL pipeline as early as next spring.

MERO and ČEZ are working together to strengthen the energy security of the Czech Republic

The Czech Republic will be independent of crude oil from Russia as early as 2025. MERO ČR is working to expand the capacity of the TAL crude oil pipeline, which will begin delivering up to 8 million tons of crude oil to the Czech Republic from 2025, 4 million more than now *Elevion Group, a subsidiary of ČEZ, is also involved in strengthening the capacity of TAL. It is building gas cogeneration for the efficient drive of pumps in Italy along the TAL route

Kralupy nad Vltavou, 25 October 2023 – MERO ČR continues to work on the TAL-PLUS project, which will ensure the Czech Republic's independence from Russian crude oil as early as 2025. This is one of the most significant updates in the recent history of the Czech energy industry. The project envisages increasing the capacity of the Transalpine Pipeline (TAL) – the European crude oil pipeline system; as a result, the Czech Republic will receive an additional 4 million tonnes of oil per annum.

MERO ČR tests tank cleaning using NON ENTRY system for the first time in the Czech Republic. A unique and innovative method more protective of human health and nature

Kralupy nad Vltavou, 24 July 2023 – For the first time in the Czech Republic, the NON ENTRY system has been used for cleaning an oil tank. The first company to use it was MERO ČR, which employed it to clean one of the tanks at the Central Oil Tank Farm in Nelahozeves from March to May this year.

Together with Jaroslav Pantůček, CEO of MERO ČR, and other members of the Company’s management, he discussed the provision of crude oil supplies to the Czech Republic, the Company’s business performance and the strategic investment of CZK 1.6 billion in the TAL-PLUS project. The Ministry of Finance is the sole shareholder of MERO ČR, a state-owned company which distributes crude oil to the Czech Republic.

This is a major success and an important step for strengthening the energy security of the Czech Republic and the oil independence of our country. The agreement was signed on 22 May with the consent of all TAL shareholders, signed on behalf of MERO ČR by the company CEO, Mr. Jaroslav Pantůček, and the Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Zdeněk Dundr.

The TAL pipeline intensification project is approved
