The TAL crude oil pipeline links the port of Trieste with Central European countries with the aim of helping to secure their energy needs by ensuring the supply of crude oil to refineries in Austria, Germany and the Czech Republic.
From the port of Trieste the TAL crude oil pipeline runs through the Italian region of Friuli Venezia Giulia from where it crosses the Alps and continues through Austria to Ingolstadt in Germany where it splits. The western part of the pipeline terminates in Karlsruhe, and the eastern part near Neustadt. The total length of the pipeline is 753 km..
From the very beginning of its operation the TAL crude oil pipeline has been a symbol of economically and environmentally responsible behavior, high ethical standards and a strong awareness of the importance of maintaining safe operation.
